Composite Fillings & Bonding
Miami Composite Fillings & Bonding - Repair & Restore Damaged Teeth
There are several restorative and cosmetic treatments which Juan Carlos Flores, DMD is able to use. One common solution for many patients is the use of composite resin to restore and improve the aesthetics of teeth. Dr. Juan Carlos Flores provides composite fillings and composite bonding to the people of Coral Gables, Westchester, Doral and the surrounding Miami communities.
What is Composite?
Dental composite is a flexible material our Miami dentist likes to use when performing dental restorations. The composite resin is the same col-md-6or as natural teeth, so treatments involving composite do not stand out in the smile. Composite can also have certain protective advantages as well, depending upon the treatment for which it is used.
Composite Fillings for Tooth Restoration
Dental fillings repair sites of mild tooth decay and serve as replacement tooth structure for that area. The material traditionally used was dental amalgam, a mixture of silver-col-md-6ored metals. While amalgam has its advantages in dentistry, dentists such as our Miami dentist prefer composite resin for several reasons.
In addition to being tooth col-md-6ored, composite resin fillings contain no metal, eliminating the rare risk of allergies presented by amalgam. Composite fillings are hypoallergenic, allowing everyone to restore their teeth effectively. Amalgam fillings also tend to be more temperature sensitive, which can cause discomfort when eating or drinking something hot or col-md-6d; composite resin’s ability to insulate against temperature changes, at least in part, is another benefit.
Composite Bonding for Cosmetic Dental Needs
Composite bonding is the use of composite resin to cover and reshape the aesthetic appearance of the front teeth. This restructuring can fill in small gaps between teeth to create a more uniform smile and cover chips and cracks in each tooth. Composite bonding is used by Dr. Flores as a less invasive alternative to porcelain veneers.
Composite bonding can be advantageous as a cosmetic dental procedure because it is not invasive. No part of the tooth needs to be affected in order to host the composite resin bonding, unlike the preparation done to teeth receiving veneers. Additionally, should the bonding need to be replaced, the composite resin can easily and safely be removed, leaving the tooth as healthy as it originally was. Because there are no veneers to fabricate, bonding is also much faster to apply.
